I am pleased to be showing work at the 2016 Leigh on Sea Art Trail at St. Clements Church Leigh on Sea, especially in the church which for me is a perfect venue because it is about people. Although my work is quite diverse in many respects, this exhibition brings together some of this diversity. I have been making box assemblages and taking photographs for many years and my work has progressively incorporated these approaches.
My work on the cockle fishing industry from 1983 to 1985 has also been a key element, particularly the focus on people. It has in a way influenced this current work by bringing together the documentary and assemblage work. Some of the people I photographed and got to know are no longer with us so the work can be seen as a tribute to these people and together with the current photographs I can see much scope for the future.
